Eureka Springs 2011
After missing a year for the car being broke down; we have returned to my favorite place, although this time was to be more about my wife than the cars. As much as possible anyway.
We pulled out first thing Thursday morning after seeing the kids off to school and made it some way before stopping for break one at the Burger King on the Turnpike; surprise number one, we come out to a car that want start and had to give it a little push. Just as we got going we met up with Don Moyer and his caravan; as we caught up with them, I found out that me engine was falling off at 5K. So I’m thinking pull into the first Oreilly’s and get busy addressing these issues; little did I know that more surprises awaited me. So I pulled the alternator and battery for testing and both showed perfect; but I decided to put on a new alternator just to be safe. Then the next surprise was found upon trying to put on the new alternator; my custom Headman alternator mount for headers was split and missing an ear, I then had to find a machine shop for repair which I did fortunately. Now we get back on the road and followed Dean for a bit until the temp gauge starts to rise near 250, so off we go on the shoulder to find a belt has been mangled. About the time I size the problem; Bob Liles and two friend’s U turn in show of support and help, but it was a one man job complicated by the newly installed spreaderbar. I can only thank God I had the insight to bring a backup belt.
Now back on the road and a little late for the autocross; but that was my favorite autocross ever as my wife got to ride with me! Then on to Eureka and the fantastic Trails Inn, a great weekend with great weather! The only side track was I had to fly over to Stillwater on Saturday for Father’s day with my daughter Hope. After returning late that night I found my old friend Randy and Dean full of conversation till late in the morning; we had many important issues to discuss, and nearly solved several world issues. As it was nearly time to call it a night I noticed gas running down the parking lot; turns out Darrell Willis’s 73 BIG Block cracked a hose, but we patched it in due time.
As Sunday rolled around we saw everyone off then headed downtown; and then later to War Eagle Carven for the kids.
What a GREAT weekend and special mention to Jackie and all that put on the special dinner Friday night.
As always, I can’t wait for next year already……

Break down one.

Working very hard!

Wife killing time at break down 1.

Wife helping work on car.

Break down 2 on highway.

Wife waiting for repair 2.

Finally at race with Tom Allen’s race gear.

My favorite picture of the weekend and one of all time!

Vette for sale on the way in Spring Valley, the wife is not happy with this one.

At Ermillo’s YUMMY…..

The morning of the Econo run and Mike Reese with his stunning 72, an unbelievable job Mike did with this car.

Bryon had a little boo boo, fortunately it is not that bad, watch out for those light poles!

I love the in process and respect anyone not afraid to bring it on! Jeff from Kansas plans to have it near finished by next year.

I have always liked Darrell; he first showed up over 10 years ago as a teenager with a sweet 77, now he’s moved over to a BIG Block.

Shopping, who doesn’t in ES?

I’m not real sure what this was all about; but it made me feel all warm inside.

And apparently Bob felt warm too…..

Now this picture I have to explain. This is the view from the shower in room 114 which I held for many years; they just gave me this room back after being absent for some time, and I dearly love taking a shower looking out of this window up at the pines and sky.

My two favorites at the car show.

And then I made the quick run over to Stillwater for the game with Hope.

Shopping Sunday and Michael was not very happy about it.

Inside the War Eagle Cavern.

And a great boat I found; I’m trying to make them an offer on it now.
We are all back home, safe, and missing all the fun already………..
Waiting for 2012.
